Most recently, we’re incredibly proud to share that our aparthotel in Aarhus has been awarded the Green Key certification. Officially granted in March 2025, this internationally recognised ecolabel is reserved for hospitality leaders who truly walk the talk when it comes to sustainability. No greenwashing. No shortcuts. Just meaningful action, measurable impact, and a genuine commitment to doing better — every single day.
Waste-reducing vacations
No unnecessary paper or plastic in our apartments. Soap, shampoo, lotion – all in refillable dispensers. No guidebooks, or city maps cluttering your space – it's all digital. Even our coffee capsules are 100% biodegradable. Waste sorting? Yes please.
Wind powered apartments
If you’re a fan of green energy, get ready to be blown away when you flick on the lights or turn on the oven in our apartments. Scanenergi has us covered with electricity from Danish windmills.
Circular linen service
Our towels and linens? Entrusted to Elis and Textilia — industry leaders in circular textile services and sustainable innovation. Their Nordic Swan Ecolabel–certified laundries uphold the highest standards for water, energy, and detergent use, while independent audits and internationally recognised CSR certifications ensure full transparency, traceability, and environmental responsibility.
No single-use plastic, please
Plastic? Not our style. Glasses made of glass, cutlery made of metal, plates and cups made from natural materials. That’s how we like it. Who wants their coffee in a plastic cup anyway?
Local sourcing
Most of our furniture and inventory, from beds and chairs to lamps to rugs, are sourced from local suppliers. Coffee, soap, toilet paper – all from our close friends. Sorry, China, we're keeping it local.
Intelligent Heating
The greenest energy is the one we don’t use. In 2024 we are hooking the heating in our apartments up with digital genies. Thermostats will automatically lower the temperature when guests check out and turn it back on well before the next check-in. That’s energy efficiency in a nutshell.
Eco-labelled cleaning
Cleanliness without compromise. That’s why we work with Alliance Rengøring and Rengøringsassistancerne — two cleaning partners known for their exceptionally high standards of environmental responsibility and employee care. They prioritise the use of Nordic Swan Ecolabel–certified cleaning products, delivering outstanding results with minimal environmental impact. A true Cleaning Dream Team.
Pedal-Powered Operations
With apartments throughout the city, there's a fair amount of transportation for our staff. This is primarily done on bicycles provided by SwapFiets. It's more fun and way faster than taking a car. And better for people and planet.
What’s Next on Our Green List?
Just because our sustainability ratings beat the big hotels and competitors, we are not popping the champagne just yet.
We are constantly on the hunt for new ways to do things better and smarter. Using more sustainable buildings, sponsoring carbon capturing projects, and giving our staff unlimited vacation (hey, they already have that).
